Supreme Harmony Gate

The Forbidden City was home to the emperors of both the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was "off limits" to the general population for 500 years. As you pass through what is known as The Meridian Gate, you enter a large courtyard that evidently could hold audiences of up to 100,000 people. Because of the cold weather, the moat, the canals and ponds at the Forbidden City were all frozen.
